*bate

``bate'' might mean walk/hit.

abate: Although anesthetic had been injected several minutes ago, the biting pain never abated.

absorbate and adsorbate: I don't think they should be put here. However they are so similar. They originate from absorb and adsorb(吸附). So they are the instance that is absorbed/adsorbed.
Heminths can't be absorbed, on the contrary, they can adsorb in the organs, such as intestine.

approbate: to approve of formally or legally.
The act was approbated by the congress days ago and now it's illegal to sell this stuff.

barbate: originates from barb, barber, means bearded...
I don't like barbate leaves which cause my allergy.
